Dateline -- The Emerging Markets Companion, Inc. Launches Internet-based Information Service for Developing Countries....
The Emerging Markets Companion, Inc. announces the launch of a new Internet-based information service for investors and managers interested in developing regions of the world. The company has established a site on the World Wide Web, found at http://www.emgmkts.com, that offers up-to-date pricing, news and research from Latin America, Eastern Europe and Asia. The site provides relevant financial, economic and political information from these regions in a well-edited and convenient format.
As the level of direct and portfolio investment in emerging regions has expanded, the demand for timely intelligence about these economies has grown apace. As these markets have become more mainstream, new categories of investor have entered them. The Emerging Markets Companion will provide these new players with the same reliable news and data that institutional investors now enjoy.
The web site, which is currently free, offers a wide range of basic information. Headline news reports update throughout the day with reviews of important political and economic events affecting financial markets. Market summaries, available in the evening, provide overviews of Brady bond trading in New York and activity in local equity markets. Closing prices for Brady bonds, foreign exchange, mutual finds, stocks, stock indexes, futures and options provide investors a convenient way to evaluate security holdings. In the near future, analytical tools such as risk management models, technical analysis packages, and relative value reviews will supplement raw pricing. The research section of the site guides investors through an overview of the emerging markets and boasts an extensive database of facts about many developing countries. A series of term sheets for Brady bonds and syndicated loans is an invaluable tool for any trader or researcher who is valuing or modeling these assets.
The Emerging Market Companion draws on the rich sources of information available on the Internet and from emerging markets sales and trading groups on Wall Street. Contributors, such as Credit Lyonnais Securities (USA) Inc., provide content for the site to benefit the investment community. As more timely pricing data and news comes on-line, the Emerging Market Companion will launch a fee-based service aimed at managers and sophisticated investors. This subscription area will complement the free service currently operating.
