From 26-30 April the average Tenge/Dollar exchange rate fluctuated significantly on the KASE. On Monday, 26 April, the dollar was traded at KZT 115.62 per USD 1 and the traded volume reached USD 16,515,000. On Tuesday-Wednesday, when supply appeared to exceed demand for Dollars, the Tenge rose to 114.91 and on to 114.09. per USD 1. A total of USD 5,980,000 was traded on Wednesday, down from USD 8,560,000 on Tuesday. On Thursday, however, the average rate of the Tenge fell to 114.60 as the demand for Dollars increased again and the traded volume more than doubled to USD 12,400,000. At the end of sessions on Friday, the Tenge closed at KZT 114.80 per USD 1. The traded volume was USD 11,800,000.
The Deutsche Mark was traded on 27 and 28 April at an average rate of KZT 62.80 and KZT 62.10, respectively. The total traded volume of the two days was DM 45,000.
Several transactions were concluded for Euros. On 27 April a total of EUR 5,000 was sold at an average rate of KZT 121.85 per one Euro. On 29 April, the average rate of this currency decreased by 0.35% to KZT 121.26, and the traded volume reached EUR 195,000.
