During the week of 15-19 February, 26 transactions amounting to USD 1,585,000 were closed on the Almaty Financial Instrument Exchange (AFINEX). The Tenge devaluation calculated by the average weighted rate totalled 12.04% per annum against 14.80% on the previous week. The beginning of the week was characterised by a low demand for dollars. As a result, daily traded volumes dropped to USD 5,000 on Monday. Trades were most active on Thursday. That day the traded volume grew to USD 1,050,000. On Friday, the Dollar was traded in the 85.65-85.70 range. The traded volume fell to USD 190,000.
No transactions were concluded for Deutsche Marks or Euros due to the absence of both demand and supply. (IRBIS)
