Compound Yields vs. Volumes at Primary Auctions of 6-month T-bills

The latest auction of 3-month T-bills on 9 February was almost twice oversubscribed. Given the decreased rate of Tenge devaluation, the yields offered by the Finance Ministry on these papers seem attractive to banks. The placed volume totalled KZT 915.1m (USD 10.7m) and the average yield held at 23.95%.

Therefore, at the end of the 8th calendar week, the Finance Ministry raised KZT 1,427.3m and it paid back KZT 1,248.9m. The balance remains positive as it was a week ago. (IRBIS)
