On the Almaty Financial Instrument Exchange (AFINEX) the price of the Dollar fluctuated between KZT 81.40 (12 October) and 81.60 (14 October) while it was 81.50 at close on Friday 16 October. The Tenge fell only 10 points in the week or by 25 points less than the previous week, thus indicating that the National Bank managed to slow down the Tenge's decline. Banks were quite active which was reflected in large traded volumes—between USD 2,735,000 and 14,600,000.
Deutsche Marks were not traded on the AFINEX.
