The Chilean Pension fund system (AFP), based on individual capitalization, has attracted much attention not only in Chile, but also abroad. Recently, the government increased the limit for pension fund investments abroad to twelve percent. This increase will represent up to $4.5 billion in new investments abroad in 1998 and more than $7 billion for the year 2004.
